Unique Voluntary PreKindergarten in Cape Coral
Believing strongly in the value of a solid educational foundation for preschool children to ensure their success in school, the State pays for 540 hours of preschool education for all children who turned 4 by September 1st.

We are currently operating our VPK classes 3 hours per morning throughout the school year from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, including lunch. Before and after care is available at the very reasonable rate of $113 per week.

To register your child for this program, click the blue button below or go online to www.elcofswfl.org and click on "Parents" and then "Apply for VPK" and go through the steps to register. You will need to upload your child's birth certificate and a proof of your Lee County residence, such as a driver's license, a lease or a utilities bill. You can register anytime even if the program has already started.

You will then receive an e-mail from the Office of Early Learning enabling you to print out your registration confirmation and bring it to the child care center of your choice. If you have any trouble with the uploading process, just bring your documents to us and we can help.

WELL-TRAINED STAFF
Our VPK teachers are dedicated, well-educated, long standing employees. We use a very successful and enjoyable curriculum, Creative Curriculum.

PARENT ORIENTATIONS
Before the VPK sessions start, all parents are invited to our very informative orientation evening. Children are invited to come too to meet their teachers and get to see their classroom.

ASSESSMENTS
In order for us to be sure that every child is progressing well, as well as closely observing their progress daily, we assess the children with the Department of Education AP1, AP2 and AP3 assessment tools throughout the year. We share this information with parents and develop strategies together to help children improve in any area of need.

EXCITING EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS
We take our VPK children on very interesting field trips to broaden their experiences. Every year, at a minimum, our children visit the local fire station, a farm, and an assisted living center and participate in a trick or treat parade around local businesses. We are well-known locally for having beautifully behaved and happy children out in the community.

GUEST SPEAKERS
All kinds of interesting people come to visit us and talk to the children about what they do. Policemen come with their police dogs, veterinarians bring small pets, and dentists come and show the children how to care for their teeth properly. Sometimes cartoon characters come to visit too! For parents, we always invite a Kindergarten teacher to come and speak about what to expect in Kindergarten.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT
We have a very high degree of parent involvement and love it when parents share in our classroom activities. We so enjoy getting to know our families as this helps us to get to know our children and better meet their needs. Parents also love coming with us on our field trips. We share information with parents on how to enhance their child’s learning with entertaining home activities. We are always available for parent conferences.
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS and NEWSLETTERS
Once a week we give the children a fun-to-do homework assignment. This is a delightful way to prepare children for more serious homework assignments once they start school. Children are also given letter writing practice sheets. Parents receive a weekly newsletter.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES
We have bilingual teachers here. Children are taught in English as they will need to be fluent in English in school but we like to incorporate Spanish into our curriculum. The onsite owner speaks German, French and Spanish.

GRADUATION CEREMONY
Our graduations are well-known throughout the Cape when the children dazzle their parents and relatives with truly delightful performances to demonstrate what they have learned through the year. At graduation, each family receives a DVD with wonderful memories of their child’s VPK year.
